The Friends of Eusebius and Florestan present Schubert Dreaming

7:30 PM - 9:30 PM
The Friends of Eusebius and Florestan is a new ensemble based in Melbourne which brings together members of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra who share a passion for music of the 19th century played on period instruments and in the spirit of the first Romantics. Our name takes its cue from the two opposing alter egos of Robert Schumann: Eusebius - the dreamer and Florestan the passionate and volatile romantic. The Northcote Town Hall is a magnificent art deco hall with a glorious acoustic - the perfect setting for our music making.

Happy Days at War
Thursday, 18 May 2017
to Sunday, 21 May 2017
Happy Days at War follows a couple who find love and joy amidst the political turmoil of Germany 1939. But assigned to work for the Fόhrer, the husband must declare any affiliation with Jews or people with disabilities or impairments.
His wife is blind. Her impairment deems her subhuman under the Nazi regime.
Emotional torment takes over what was once a loving relationship as the husband's morals are questioned and he must choose his country or his wife.
Happy Days at War is an immersive theatre production presented by Believe Productions Australia and is coming to Melbourne after a sell-out season in Perth, 2016. The audience are seated on stage, in a kitchen, within metres of the action. This intimate theatrical style stimulates smell and touch in addition to the audio and visual elements of traditional theatre.
